Stephen Talbot Biography for East Wiltshire
Stephen Talbot is proud to stand as Reform UK's candidate for East Wiltshire. Having moved to the county two years ago, he is now a father of two daughters, with his youngest born during his campaign. His motivation to run for office stems from his desire to secure a brighter future for his children and their generation.
A Career in Public and Private Sectors
Stephen Talbot brings extensive experience from both the public and private sectors. He has served as a Royal Navy officer and has worked across technology, defense, financial, and maritime markets as both an employee and entrepreneur. Over the past two decades, he has observed with concern how successive governments have overseen economic stagnation and a decline in living standards.
A Broken System of Governance
Talbot believes that the current system has failed the people. Successive governments have outsourced decision-making to unelected and unaccountable "experts" within executive agencies, quangos, and international bodies. This has resulted in policies that prioritize coercion over freedom, corporatism over competition, and division over unity. He argues that voters are consistently given policies they rejected, leading to increased costs for producers and, ultimately, consumers—creating a cycle of decline.
A Call for True Governance
Stephen Talbot firmly believes that governing means making choices. He recalls the 2016 EU Referendum, during which he led Business for Britain under Vote Leave, as a pivotal moment when the British public voted to restore sovereignty to the UK Parliament. However, he feels the current political class has proven incapable of making and upholding these necessary choices.
Reform UK: Leading the Path to a Prosperous Future
According to Talbot, Reform UK is committed to true leadership, understanding that the government must make bold choices to lead the nation. He asserts that only with comprehensive reform of Britain's state institutions can the country return to prosperity and ensure a brighter future for all.
Vote for Change on 4th July
Stephen Talbot urges voters in East Wiltshire to support Reform UK in the upcoming election on 4th July, emphasizing that a vote for Reform UK is a vote for real change and a better future for the next generation.
