Julian Malins Biography, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Salisbury

Julian Malins, born in 1950 in West Germany, is the son of an Army Chaplain. Over the span of 22 years, he experienced life in 24 different homes, including four in Salisbury where he attended school in Harnham and Codford St Mary. His global upbringing took him to Ghana, Nigeria, and Singapore, shaping a diverse and worldly perspective. Julian pursued law at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he distinguished himself by earning three boxing blues and playing rugby for the university.

In 1972, Julian was called to the Bar, and by 1991, he had ascended to the rank of Queen’s Counsel. Currently, he serves as an international King’s Counsel, bringing a wealth of expertise to his legal practice. His career includes two decades as a part-time Crown Court Recorder in central London and 20 years as an elected member of The Bar Council. Julian also dedicated 36 years to serving as an elected member of The Court of Common Council, the City of London’s local authority. Today, he leads his own Chambers.

Julian is a proud father of three daughters, including Miranda Malins, a renowned historical novelist and Cromwellian historian. His family extends to seven cherished grandchildren, reflecting his commitment to both his professional and personal life.
