Martin York Biography, Parliamentary Candidate for Congleton
Martin York has called Congleton home for the past 14 years, immersing himself in the community and its needs. His diverse career, spanning from the RAF to the IT industry, has equipped him with a wealth of experience that he now brings to his political aspirations.
A Career Built on Expertise and Innovation
Martin's professional journey began as an officer in the Royal Air Force after earning a master's degree in engineering. Transitioning into the IT sector, he excelled in roles ranging from sales and marketing to business management. His notable positions include Sales Manager at Sperry Univac and McDonnell Douglas Information Systems, Divisional Director at Siemens Nixdorf, and Managing Director for NeXT Computer in the UK, Northern Europe, and EMEA, where he reported directly to Steve Jobs. Martin also co-founded a successful Business-to-Business sales and marketing agency, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen.
Political Involvement and Reform UK Candidacy
Martin's political journey began with his vote against Wilson's referendum and support for the Conservative Party throughout most of his life. His active engagement in politics started with the 2016 referendum campaign. In 2019, he joined the Brexit Party, campaigning for the European Elections and later running as the candidate for Macclesfield. Although he was reassigned to Wallasey at the last minute, Martin achieved a commendable third place, surpassing the Liberal Democrats.
Disillusioned by the political turmoil under Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak, Martin joined Reform UK and was appointed as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Congleton. He is committed to challenging the status quo and advocating for substantial change in the political landscape.
Commitment to Constituents and Local Representation
Martin York believes that effective politics begins at home. If elected, he promises to represent all constituents impartially, regardless of their political affiliation. His approach includes establishing a local office with regular hours during the week and on weekends to ensure accessibility. He will also conduct weekly surgeries in various locations across the geographically extensive constituency, ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to address local issues and seek assistance.
