Charles Shackerley-Bennett Biography for South Shropshire

Early Life and Education

Charles Shackerley-Bennett has been a resident of Shropshire since 1983, where he lives with his family in a charming cottage in Corvedale. Married with two adult children and six grandchildren, Charles has built a life deeply rooted in both family and community.

Charles's academic journey began with a study of physics at a London university. His path took him abroad, where he married in Vancouver and embarked on a successful career in accounting. During this time, he also pursued further education in data processing at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and in economics at Simon Fraser University.

Career and Professional Achievements

Returning to England in 1977, Charles Shackerley-Bennett transitioned into the global insurance sector, working in the City of London. His distinguished career saw him serving as a director at an international insurance broker and at several insurance companies before his retirement to Shropshire. Charles holds qualifications from the Insurance Institute (ACII) and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries (FCIS), and he has earned both a Bachelor's degree in Insurance Studies and a law degree (LLB), complemented by a Legal Practice Course (LPC).

Personal Interests and Community Involvement

Previously a keen skier in British Columbia, Charles has since shifted his focus to exploring the cultural and architectural heritage of Britain and enjoying European travel. His commitment to environmental conservation is reflected in his role as honorary treasurer for a conservation body, where he managed 800 acres of heathland for many years.

Commitment to Reform UK

The decline in the efficacy of established political parties and the deterioration of public services have motivated Charles Shackerley-Bennett to support Reform UK. He is driven by a belief in the party's practical solutions to pressing national issues. Charles's extensive experience in managing companies under challenging economic conditions, his adept decision-making skills, and his ability to analyze complex problems make him a strong candidate for parliamentary representation.
