Paul Godfrey Biography, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Brentwood and Ongar

Paul Godfrey, a long-time resident of Brentwood, moved to the area as a young child and has spent most of his life there. Over the years, his dedication to the community has grown, reflecting his deep commitment to the area and its residents.

Paul's political journey began with a growing disillusionment with the current government and the opposition. He became increasingly frustrated with the incompetence, dishonesty, and broken promises that seemed to dominate the political landscape. For Paul, Britain deserves better. He found that Reform UK offers a genuine alternative to the traditional two-party system.

Paul believes that the UK's current level of immigration is unsustainable. He also sees the rush towards net zero as disproportionately impacting the poorest in society, ultimately leading to a colder, poorer nation. Paul's vision for Britain includes a low-regulation, low-taxation economy that promotes free market principles. He advocates for a society where the rights of victims take precedence over the rights of criminals and where children and the elderly are given the respect and protection they deserve.

He is critical of the government’s financial decisions, citing the £37 billion spent on a failed test and trace system during Covid-19 while essential services like the NHS, social care, education, and the criminal justice system remain underfunded. With taxation at its highest in over 70 years and rampant government overreach, Paul believes that Westminster has lost sight of its purpose: to serve the people, not the other way around.

Upon discovering Reform UK, Paul found a political party that aligned with his values and aspirations for Britain. Although standing as a political candidate was not initially part of his plans, the current political climate motivated him to take action. He applied and was accepted to stand for Reform UK in the next General Election, offering the people of Brentwood and Ongar a real alternative to the status quo.

Paul Godfrey encourages voters to stop settling for the "least worst" option and to start voting for what they truly believe in. He is committed to bringing about meaningful change and ensuring that the voices of Brentwood and Ongar are heard in Westminster
