James Gunn Biography for Oxford West and Abingdon

A Career of Service and Innovation

After serving 13 years in the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service, James Gunn transitioned into a successful career as a management consultant in the computer services industry. He has extensive experience across various sectors, aiding both government and commercial organizations in implementing significant IT systems. Since 2001, James has been an independent consultant, specializing in artificial intelligence as well as sales and marketing. His work primarily focuses on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in navigating the complexities of these fields.

A Dedicated Family Man and Community Member

James is a devoted father to two adult daughters and a proud grandfather. He is actively involved in his community and worships at Emmanuel Church in Oxford. His commitment to his family and faith is a cornerstone of his character, guiding his principles and actions in both personal and professional spheres.

Political Engagement and Advocacy for Change

James has a history of political engagement, having campaigned in two elections for the Conservative party before becoming disillusioned with their direction. He also actively supported the Brexit Party during the EU referendum. Over time, James has grown increasingly frustrated with careerist politicians and senior government officials whom he believes are disconnected from the concerns of Britain’s silent majority. He has found a kindred spirit in Andrew Bridgen MP, one of the few who, in his view, upholds principles and demonstrates the courage to act on them.

A New Vision for the Future

Dissatisfied with the status quo and the lack of real change despite elections, James has decided to offer voters a viable alternative to the legacy parties. He is committed to communicating Reform UK's policies and representing the silent majority's common sense, if elected. His priorities for the country include establishing a competitive economy, controlling immigration, and addressing the challenges facing public services and government spending.

Standing Against Local Policies That Ignore the People

At the local level, James is critical of the Oxfordshire Council’s Local Traffic Neighbourhood policy, which is set to be trialed this year. He believes this policy has been imposed without proper consultation or the consent of Oxfordshire’s voters. He predicts that the Council will declare it a success and implement it widely, a move he expects will provoke significant public opposition. James is prepared to stand with the people of Oxfordshire in expressing their discontent and advocating for more transparent and inclusive decision-making processes.

Calling for Support and Engagement

James believes that the next General Election presents a crucial opportunity for real change. To effectively represent his constituents, he needs to hear from them directly. He encourages everyone to share their concerns and ideas via the contact details provided. James also invites supporters to join the campaign for Reform UK, whether through financial contributions, spreading awareness, or direct involvement in campaigning. He believes it is time for good people to stand up, make a difference, and campaign for a better future.
