Tom Smith Biography for Mid Leicestershire

Tom Smith, formally known as Thomas Patrick Smith, is proud to represent Reform UK as a candidate. Born in Shropshire and raised in the scenic Charnwood area of Leicestershire, Tom's early experiences navigating the beautiful landscapes between Woodhouse Eaves and local schools sparked his appreciation for the region's natural charm.

Political Beginnings and NHS Experience

Tom’s journey into politics began in 1979 when he worked as a pharmacy porter at Leicester Royal Infirmary at the age of sixteen. Witnessing numerous strikes and disputes during this period, he became a union representative at seventeen. This role not only deepened his understanding of political dynamics but also provided him with valuable experience in representing and assisting individuals through disciplinary and mediation processes.

Continuing his career within the NHS, Tom trained as a nurse at De Montfort University and was elected as a cohort representative in 1999. He advanced to the role of charge nurse and later became a senior prison nurse, dedicating 22 years to the NHS.

Commitment to Reform UK and Local Issues

Tom is passionate about Reform UK's mission and aims to address various challenges facing the nation. He believes that the NHS has suffered under ineffective management strategies that prioritize financial investment and additional bureaucracy rather than meaningful reform. He advocates for locally trained professionals in government roles and supports initiatives that encourage apprenticeships and skill development among youth.

In his bid for the Mid Leicestershire (formerly Charnwood) constituency, Tom is committed to preserving the local environment and heritage. He is concerned about the impacts of uncontrolled immigration, including increased housing costs, reduced land for farming, deteriorating public services, and fewer job opportunities for residents.

Addressing Key Issues: Net Zero and Agricultural Concerns

Tom is critical of current government policies on Net Zero, highlighting practical challenges such as the inadequacy of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. He also advocates for maintaining agricultural land, opposing the conversion of farmland into wind or solar farms that drive up utility bills before installation.

Vision for the Future

Tom Smith is determined to make Britain great again and to advocate for the interests of Mid Leicestershire. He believes that Reform UK offers a necessary change from the status quo and urges voters to support the party for a positive future.

Acknowledgements and Call to Action

Tom extends his gratitude to the Mid Leicestershire election team and all Reform UK supporters for their dedication and support. He invites the voters of Mid Leicestershire to join the movement and be part of the change that will "MAKE BRITAIN GREAT."

If you want change, vote for it.
