Raymond Saint Biography for Basingstoke
Raymond Saint, a former apprentice at The General Post Office (now BT), embarked on a journey that took him from the world of telecommunications to plumbing, and now to the forefront of political reform. With two O levels to his name, Raymond's determination and hard work propelled him through his career.
Having been sponsored by BT to pursue both a BA and later an MSc degree, Raymond's commitment to education and self-improvement is evident. After early retirement at 49, he ventured into the plumbing business, eventually selling his successful company after eight years. His passion for passing on his skills led him back to Basingstoke College as a plumbing and heating instructor for his final two working years.
Politically conservative and disillusioned by the direction of his former party, Raymond found himself seeking a new home in the Reform Party. His decision was fueled by a desire to restore what he sees as lost values in governance and to address the pressing issues facing the nation.
As a Reform Party PPC, Raymond's priorities lie in securing the nation's borders, streamlining the healthcare system to reduce inefficiencies, and significantly downsizing government. He advocates for policies to transition welfare recipients back into the workforce, bolster the armed forces, and invest in robust energy infrastructure, including research into nuclear power.
Raymond opposes what he perceives as an overly hasty pursuit of green initiatives, advocating instead for a balanced approach that embraces technological advancements gradually. He also champions reforms in education to counter what he views as ideological indoctrination, emphasizing a return to fundamental principles.
Central to Raymond's vision is a return to a government that truly represents the will of the people, eschewing any tendencies towards authoritarianism. He believes in the importance of genuine representation, where elected officials serve as conduits for their constituents' voices rather than imposing their own agendas.
