Michael Jordan Biography for Wetherby and Easingwold

Background and Personal Life

Michael Jordan, a Yorkshire native, has deep roots in North Yorkshire, where he lived for 21 years. With 17 years of dedicated service as a councillor for North Yorkshire, Jordan brings a wealth of experience to his role. Formerly an industrial chemist, he is now married with two grown-up children who reside locally. Outside of his professional life, Jordan enjoys cycling, classic cars, and contributing to voluntary work as needed.

Addressing Constituency Needs

The constituency encompasses a predominantly rural area with various towns and numerous villages. Key priorities for this region include improving connectivity, infrastructure, and creating welcoming spaces. Notably, the main town of Wetherby currently lacks a Leisure Hub, and the constituency spans two different councils, leading to conflicting needs. Jordan is committed to navigating these challenges to secure the best outcomes for the area.

Flexible Surgery Arrangements

Given the rural nature of the constituency, Jordan plans to offer flexible surgery arrangements on a rotational basis. This approach will ensure that members of the public can access his services without having to travel significant distances.

Infrastructure and Road Upgrades

Jordan's extensive experience driving and cycling throughout the area has highlighted the need for road upgrades. Leveraging his connections within the councils, he is well-positioned to advocate for necessary improvements to local infrastructure.

Public Transport Challenges

The future of public transport poses an additional challenge, with services currently managed by the Mayor of West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire operating as a separate entity. Jordan recognizes the need for a comprehensive discussion to address these complexities and ensure effective transportation solutions for the constituency.
