Stephen Matthews Biography for Stockton West
Stephen Matthews is the Reform UK Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Stockton West. Hailing originally from County Durham, Matthews has lived in the North East for over 40 years. His journey began with seven years of service in the Royal Army Medical Corps, culminating in a final posting at Catterick Garrison. After transitioning from military service to civilian life, he relocated to Darlington in the late 1980s.
A Lifetime of Service in the North East
Following his military career, Matthews joined Cleveland Police, where he dedicated nearly three decades to both uniformed and plain-clothes roles. During this period, he moved to Stockton in 1991, where he and his family have made their home. His extensive experience as a police officer allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the community's diverse needs, providing him with a broad perspective on societal issues.
Community Engagement and Leadership
After retiring from the police force, Matthews has continued to serve the community through various roles. He has been a Ward Councillor in Stockton, a member of the Cleveland Fire Authority, and has chaired his local parish council for 15 years. His commitment to public service reflects his enduring passion for improving the lives of those in Stockton.
