John Davies Biography for Redcar

John Davies is a lifelong resident of Grangetown, deeply rooted in the community. Growing up in the area during its most challenging times, he witnessed the local struggles firsthand. His father dedicated many years to working at British Steel, while his brothers contributed to Chorus and SSI until the unfortunate closure of the blast furnace. His mother, now retired, spent her career as a care worker in various Saltburn nursing homes, working long shifts to support her family.

Education and Career

John attended Gillbrook School on Normanby Road, situated between South Bank and Eston. At 19, he was elected Vice Chair of the Future Regeneration Of Grangetown Community Forum. Although he left for university after two years, the Forum continues to thrive and celebrate numerous achievements 28 years later. John’s career has primarily been in building services and facilities management, eventually transitioning to construction as a Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager.

In addition to his professional career, John runs a small contractor accommodation business based in Redcar. His connection to the area is profound, and he is passionate about improving the community’s conditions, which have suffered under successive Labour, LibDem, and Conservative governments.

Personal Life

John is married with a young daughter. His home is in need of renovation, and he has a cat that seems perpetually hungry.

Why John Davies is Running for Office

Over the past 23 years, the constituency has seen a parade of MPs from all three major political parties, with varying degrees of success and dissatisfaction. John believes that sticking with the status quo will only yield the same unsatisfactory results. He advocates for a radical change and offers a fresh alternative.
