Early Life and Global Exposure
Melvyn Todd spent his formative years outside the UK due to his father’s role in the foreign office, which involved postings at British embassies worldwide. This international upbringing shaped his global perspective and understanding of diverse cultures.
Military Service and Policing Career
Melvyn's career began in the military, where he served in various locations from Norway to Belize. Following his military service, he joined Hampshire Police, starting at Portsmouth Central. This challenging environment honed his skills in public protection, crime reduction, and anti-social behaviour management.
Relocation and Family Life
In 2002, Melvyn settled in Drayton, where he has lived ever since. During this period, he has also worked across Africa and the Middle East. His family life is anchored in the local community, with two of his children attending Portsmouth Grammar School and his youngest daughter currently at Portsmouth High School for girls.
Career Transition to Renewable Technologies
After leaving the police force, Melvyn shifted his focus to renewable technologies, specializing in solar panels for both residential and commercial clients. His expertise in this field underscores his commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Advocacy for Stronger Law and Order
Melvyn has witnessed significant changes in the country’s approach to law and order, particularly concerning net zero policies and immigration. He has observed a troubling trend of inadequate policing and a lack of accountability for offenders. This has led him to prioritize combating anti-social behaviour and restoring a sense of safety and security in the community.
Commitment to Enhancing Public Safety
Melvyn strongly believes that removing officers from the beat undermines public safety and intelligence gathering. He is dedicated to reversing this trend and ensuring that law enforcement is both effective and responsive. His goal is to restore law and order, making communities safer for everyone.
