Matthew Moody Biography, Parliamentary Candidate for Penrith and Solway

Matthew Moody, born and raised in Yorkshire, is the son of a policeman and a housewife. Growing up, Matthew learned the importance of right and wrong, cultivating his passions for rugby league, English language, and the RAF. His love for the great outdoors was fostered during family hikes in the Yorkshire hills.

Matthew pursued Theology at Oxford University before embarking on a successful career in the travel and leisure sectors. Later, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, founding his own business in real estate and marketing.

In 2022, Matthew relocated to Cumbria after being selected as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Penrith and the Border, now Penrith and Solway.

A staunch advocate for practical and effective governance, Matthew is dedicated to addressing the failures of successive governments. His common-sense approach to politics has resonated with many in the constituency.

Since becoming Reform UK’s PPC, Matthew has been actively engaging with the community, organizing well-attended meetings across Penrith, Alston, and Keswick. In January 2024, he orchestrated a significant event in Penrith featuring Richard Tice, drawing a record crowd and coverage from the News and Star and Westmorland Herald.

Penrith and Solway, a rural constituency with several small towns, faces challenges such as lack of investment, inadequate NHS care, deteriorating public transport, poor road conditions, rising unemployment, a housing shortage, and limited opportunities for youth. Matthew believes urgent change is essential.

Running for Reform UK, Matthew is determined to combat the neglect faced by ordinary citizens over recent decades. If you share his frustration and desire for change, join us in our campaign by volunteering and making a difference in Penrith and Solway.
