His background, shaped by growing up on a council estate in the Midlands, instilled in him a strong sense of community and fairness. Rhys attended state schools before pursuing higher education at Oxford, where he studied Modern Languages. He furthered his education by training as a Barrister at Gray's Inn.

Rhys Burriss has garnered extensive experience throughout his career. He has served as a Court Interpreter and Clerk to the Justices in County Durham. His international experiences, including work in Tanzania and the British Overseas Territories, have enriched his understanding of global issues and diverse perspectives.

Personal Interests and Previous Candidacy

Outside his professional endeavors, Rhys enjoys traveling, fitness training, and reading literature, with a particular fondness for Iris Murdoch and José Saramago. His candidacy for UKIP in 2015 underscored his commitment to bringing change to Bishop Auckland. Rhys believes that Reform UK offers a revitalized approach to addressing community concerns.
