James Bush Biography, Parliamentary Candidate for Burton and Uttoxeter

With a background in chemical engineering and extensive experience living and working across Europe, James is dedicated to serving his local community and addressing critical national issues.

Early Life and Education

Born in Reading, James began his schooling in Belgium due to his father's job, attending a local state primary school where he learned in French. Returning to England in 1979, he completed his education at local primary and comprehensive schools. He pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering at university and has worked in various European countries, including France, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Sweden. Since 2019, James has operated his own engineering consulting business.

Family and Community Involvement

James is married to his wife, and together they have three children and two cats. They reside in Barton under Needwood, which is adjacent to the Lichfield constituency. Their youngest child was born in 2016 at Queen’s Hospital in Burton, and all their children attend local schools. As a committed member of the Church of England, James regularly worships at St James in Barton.

Political Experience and Motivation

James has always been deeply committed to the future of England and Britain. He previously stood as the UKIP candidate in the North East Derbyshire constituency during the 2010, 2015, and 2017 general elections and was an active campaigner for Brexit in the 2016 Referendum. His motivation for running in the General Election is to offer the voters of Burton and Uttoxeter a viable Reform UK choice.

Reform UK Vision and Policies

James believes that the Conservative government has failed the British people on multiple fronts. Issues such as immigration, rising costs, national debt, and inadequate public services have been exacerbated under their watch. With over 1.2 million newcomers settling in the UK in 2022 alone, James argues for a robust immigration policy with Reform UK’s proposed “one in, one out” approach.

He is committed to addressing the soaring costs of energy, housing, and food, as well as the challenges faced by the NHS. James advocates for increased tax thresholds, support for low-paid workers, and a focus on affordable British energy. Reform UK plans to support local industries, including fracking and Small Modular Nuclear Reactors, and to advocate for car manufacturers like Toyota rather than imposing restrictions on their products.
