Richard Thomson Biography, Parliamentary Candidate for Braintree
Richard Thomson has been a long-time resident of the Braintree area, bringing a wealth of experience from his career in the financial technologies industry. Prior to this, he served as a Royal Marine Commando for eight years, completing two tours of duty in Afghanistan. His dedication to his country and community is now channeled into his candidacy for Reform UK, driven by a belief in the need for substantial change in Britain.
Richard is standing for Reform UK because he believes it is the only party with the courage to implement real change. With years of rising taxes, increasing government borrowing, uncontrolled immigration, and deteriorating infrastructure, he argues that it's time for a new direction.
Both the Conservative and Labour parties, in his view, have become indistinguishable, offering more of the same disappointments. Richard believes that the people of Braintree deserve a genuine alternative. As the Reform UK PPC for Braintree, he represents this alternative, advocating for policies that will address pressing issues effectively.
Key Campaign Issues :
Cost of Living Crisis: Richard is passionate about tackling the cost of living crisis. He advocates for increasing the basic rate of income tax threshold from £12,571 to £20,000, putting more money back into the pockets of British people. He believes this will incentivize individuals to return to work and support their families.
Immigration Control: Richard highlights the urgent need to manage both legal and illegal immigration, which he describes as currently at catastrophic levels. He argues that uncontrolled immigration is unsustainable and damaging to the economy, workforce, infrastructure, and the nation’s core values and culture.
NHS Reform: A strong supporter of the National Health Service, Richard believes in the necessity of reform rather than simply increasing funding. He calls for a comprehensive review of the NHS's operations, pointing out that issues of waste, incompetent management, bureaucracy, and poor procurement need to be addressed to ensure the sustainability of this vital service.
Richard Thomson invites the community to join his campaign, volunteer, and help drive the change that Braintree and Britain need. To get involved, please contact him and become part of the movement for a better future with Reform UK.
