Charles Hansard for Taunton and Wellington in General Elections 2024
Charles Hansard Biography for Taunton and Wellington
Early Life and Military Service
Charles Hansard grew up near Radstock and dedicated 12 years to serving in the Army with the 16th/5th The Queen’s Royal Lancers from 1983 to 1994. After leaving the Army, he pursued a BSc in Environment Management at Cranfield University. Over the past 30 years, Hansard has leveraged his expertise to develop innovative environmental solutions for industrial challenges.
Return to Somerset and Family Life
In 1997, Hansard returned to Somerset, where he married and later moved to Wellington in 2004. His wife, a GP, and their three children are integral to his life in the community.
Political Involvement and Advocacy
Hansard’s commitment to public service began in 1995 as Student Union President. Since then, he has actively campaigned for local government positions and contested the Bristol North West constituency in 2001. Over the past 20 years, he has observed a concerning decline in societal conditions, including economic instability, healthcare issues, housing shortages, and rising crime rates, attributing these problems to ineffective government policies.
A Call for Reform
Hansard believes that the residents of Taunton and Wellington deserve better value for their taxes. He argues that many local issues stem from national policies, including mass immigration and the high cost of pursuing an extreme net-zero agenda. Motivated by a dissatisfaction with the current representation, he has joined Reform UK to advocate for meaningful change.
