Daniel Matchett Biography, Parliamentary Candidate for Rossendale and Darwen

Welcome! I'm Daniel Matchett, your dedicated Reform UK PPC. Born in Chorley and raised in Leyland and the surrounding areas, I've been a proud resident of Darwen with my wife since 2016. My 18-year-old daughter brings immense joy to our lives.

A Lifelong Commitment to Public Service

My career spans over 20 years in the mental health industry, including more than a decade as a Mental Health Nurse with both the NHS and local authorities. This extensive experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges within our healthcare system. I am intimately aware of both the triumphs and the limitations of the NHS, having navigated its multifaceted political environment firsthand.

Educator and Advocate for Mental Health

I have also contributed significantly to the field of mental health nursing education as a lecturer at the University of Cumbria. My teaching journey began much earlier, though, with a decade-long stint as a self-employed guitar teacher in various music schools across Lancashire, where I helped students of all ages master the art of rock.

Diverse Interests and Expertise

Beyond nursing and education, my passions extend to TV, videography, and postproduction. I hold a master’s degree from MediaCityUK, which has given me unique insights into our media institutions, including the BBC. I’ve witnessed the impact of political and cultural shifts on these institutions and am committed to advocating for integrity and freedom in media and beyond.

Campaigning for Common Sense and Freedom

Our campaign is rooted in the belief that democracy should be free from coercion, woke ideologies, and cancel culture. I advocate for a society driven by common sense, economic growth, low taxes, minimal state intervention, and the preservation of free speech.

Learning from Global Perspectives

My experiences extend beyond the UK. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I spent time in Sweden and observed alternative approaches to managing political crises. These experiences have convinced me that prioritizing freedoms and choices can effectively protect citizens. We must never again subject our children to lockdowns—freedom is too precious.

Join me in championing a brighter, freer future. Together, we can make a difference.
