Richard Oakley Biography for Hyndburn
A Commitment to True Reform
Richard Oakley is honored to be the Reform UK prospective Parliamentary candidate for Hyndburn. With a keen observation of the Tory administration’s impact on Britain and growing concerns over Labour’s economic policies, Oakley is committed to standing up for a better future. His resolve is to challenge the status quo and advocate for policies that genuinely support hard work and entrepreneurial freedom.
Local Experience and Political Background
Having lived in the Hyndburn constituency for over 30 years, Richard Oakley has deep roots in the community. Though currently between jobs and a bachelor, his political experience is extensive. Oakley previously aligned with the Tory Party during its earlier conservative days, standing in local elections from 1990-1992 and for Lancashire County Council in 1993. He also represented the Referendum Party in 1997, for which he gratefully acknowledges the Post Office's support in delivering his election address.
A Shift in Political Alignment
Oakley’s departure from the Tory Party in 1998 marked a significant shift in his political stance, driven by disillusionment with their pro-EU policies. His concerns about Brexit’s betrayal by the Tories since 2016 further validated his decision. Oakley later joined The Brexit Party and, subsequently, Reform UK, demonstrating his commitment to true Brexit and reform.
A Call for Genuine Change
Richard Oakley has contested elections in three different wards within the Borough of Hyndburn, reflecting his dedication to local issues. He argues that neither the Tories nor Labour can be trusted to deliver meaningful change. According to Oakley, the Tories have failed Britain with broken promises and uncontrolled mass migration, while Labour threatens economic instability. For real, impactful reform, Oakley believes Reform UK is the only viable option.
Vote Reform UK for a Better Future
Richard Oakley invites voters to choose Reform UK for a genuine transformation. His candidacy represents a commitment to addressing the real issues facing Britain and offering a fresh perspective in Hyndburn.
