Simon Christy Biography for Gedling

Simon Christy is a dedicated second-generation farmer from near Southwell in Nottinghamshire. For clarity, he pronounces the town name "Su-thal."

Political Engagement and Views

Simon’s political passion ignited during his involvement with Nigel Farage’s campaign at the Peterborough by-election in June 2019, where he also served as a polling station observer. This experience led him to advocate for the phasing out of postal voting, which he views as an unsafe practice.

Commitment to Reform UK

Simon is a staunch supporter of Reform UK, aligning with its strong policies that he believes are crucial for the UK, especially given the shortcomings of the major political parties over the past 40 years. He argues that these parties have misled the public and squandered taxpayer money on an unprecedented scale.

NHS and Public Services

In his vision for the NHS, Simon proposes free university tuition for nurses and care workers from day one. He emphasizes that while the NHS does not require complete overhaul, reducing waiting times for treatment to zero is essential. He insists that public funds should ensure value for money in all public services.

Green Energy and Immigration

Simon advocates for green energy projects that must be profitable without government subsidies. He also calls for a return to UK government control over immigration, focusing on genuine cases of those in most need. He criticizes the recent failures of the UK Border Force and insists on prioritizing improvements in this area.

Commitment to Gedling

As a prospective Member of Parliament, Simon Christy is committed to improving the lives of the people of Gedling. If elected, he promises to remain based within the constituency, reflecting his dedication to local issues.
