Christopher Lester Biography for Stroud

Christopher Lester boasts 44 years of experience in the electricity industry, currently serving as a Senior Authorised Person and Control Electrical Engineer up to 132KV. With a robust track record in project and asset management, he has successfully led a team of 27 craftsmen in fault location and repair work on the electricity distribution network, consistently optimizing asset performance. Christopher is now eager to apply his extensive management and personnel skills in a new direction, leveraging his experience to make a meaningful impact.

Motivated by Disillusionment with the Conservative Party

Christopher Lester's decision to stand for office stems from a profound disillusionment with the Conservative Party. He advocates for lower taxes, emphasizing the importance of raising the tax threshold to remove the poorest from the tax system and incentivize personal advancement. By putting more money in people's pockets, he believes it will boost consumer spending and drive economic growth. Additionally, lowering corporation tax is seen as a crucial step to further stimulate business expansion.

Advocating for NHS Reform

In his vision for the NHS, Christopher highlights the need for a comprehensive overhaul to address inefficiencies. He calls for a reduction in waste, an increase in the training of doctors and nurses, and the removal of the cap on training spots to ensure a well-resourced healthcare system capable of meeting the demands of the public.

Environmental and Immigration Policies

On environmental matters, Christopher proposes that market forces should guide the pace of decarbonization, rather than adhering to an arbitrary Net Zero target. Concerning immigration, he advocates for a balanced approach: for every new arrival, one individual should leave, and boats carrying migrants should be redirected and escorted back to France to ensure a manageable and fair immigration system.
