Giane Mortimer Biography for St Ives

A Commitment to Cornish Heritage and National Integrity

As a devoted Cornishman, Giane Mortimer is profoundly connected to Cornwall's rich heritage, its people, and its future. Since 1997, Giane has observed the gradual erosion of national identity under successive Labour and Conservative governments. Concerned about the impact this erosion will have on future generations, Giane has decided to run for Parliament to effect positive change for Cornwall.

Addressing National Challenges with Truth and Integrity

Giane believes that our country needs a political party committed to truth, honesty, and integrity. This party must bring fresh ideas to address the pressing issues we face.

Tackling Immigration and Its Costs

One major concern is the loss of control over immigration, both legal and illegal, which has occurred under previous Labour, Conservative/Liberal Coalition, and recent Conservative governments. This lack of control is costing the nation billions annually and imposing additional financial burdens on local councils and government departments.

Healthcare and Housing Challenges

The backlog of over 7.4 million patients and the strain on hospitals due to insufficient investment and poor planning are critical issues. Additionally, the surge in house building and immigration has exacerbated these problems, revealing the inadequacies in our healthcare and housing systems.

Economic and Environmental Policy Failures

The country has suffered from strikes that have diminished productivity and an ineffective Bank of England that has failed to control inflation, leading to increased costs of mortgages, energy, food, and rent. The adoption of Net Zero policies without fully assessing their impact, combined with local councils declaring Climate Emergencies without considering community effects, adds to the list of challenges.

High Tax Rates and Political Distrust

The highest tax rates since the 1950s, exacerbated by frozen allowances, continue to rise annually under both Conservative and Labour governments. The expenses scandal and lack of transparency have fostered distrust in politicians, further undermining public confidence.

A Local Commitment to Cornwall

Born and raised in Carbis Bay, and with a local education, Giane Mortimer is deeply committed to the community. He feels a strong obligation to give back to Cornwall, particularly the St Ives and Scilly Isles Constituency, including Penzance. By standing for Parliament, Giane aims to represent and advocate for the people of Cornwall with dedication and integrity.
