David Bowes Biography for Scarborough and Whitby

David Bowes is honored to have been chosen to represent the people of Whitby and Scarborough for Reform UK in the upcoming General Election. His deep roots in the region are a testament to his commitment and dedication to the area he calls home.

A Legacy of Service and Dedication

David's connection to Whitby and Scarborough runs through his family history. His Great-Great-Grandfather served as an Inspector for the Scarborough Police Force and as Mace at Arms for the Scarborough and Whitby Corporation, receiving recognition from the town upon his retirement in 1918. His Grandfather, a native of Scarborough, was a Detective Sergeant with what later became North Yorkshire Police, and his father was born in Whitby. This rich heritage reflects David’s enduring connection to the community.

Professional Achievements and Community Focus

David’s professional background is rooted in pharmaceuticals, where he trained with French and Danish specialists for over a decade. He played a key role in a team that developed a groundbreaking adrenaline device in Sweden, now saving lives globally. Following this success, David established his own pharmaceutical company, which he led for eight years. Recently, he has shifted his focus to restoring historic buildings into homes for his family, a project he takes great pride in.

A Passion for Local Heritage and Change

Outside of his professional life, David is passionate about old maps and books. He enjoys exploring the moors and searching for fossils along the coastline. The Victorian elegance cherished by his Great-Grandfather is still visible, yet David acknowledges the increasing challenges faced by the region. He believes the current political model is failing, with issues such as record taxes, NHS waiting lists, immigration, and national debt leading the country towards decline.

Advocating for Common Sense Solutions

David is committed to addressing key local issues, including fishing, housing, NHS services, asylum and immigration, education, and crime. He aims to bring common sense back to representation and shift away from the corporatism and self-interest that have marked past decades. David envisions safe and clean streets, effective infrastructure, and a local policy plan that honors the legacy of those who built the community.

Engaging with the Community

In the coming months, David will be canvassing in Whitby and Scarborough, aiming to meet as many residents as possible. His goal is to listen to the concerns of the community and advocate for meaningful change.
