Janice Richardson Biography for Newcastle upon Tyne East and Wallsend

Janice Richardson is proud to be standing as the Reform UK parliamentary candidate for Newcastle East and Wallsend in the upcoming general election. A true Wallsend native, Janice’s roots run deep in the community. Her father was a crane driver at the Neptune shipyard and served as a shop steward for the G.M.B union, while her grandfather worked for 48 years as a miner in the Rising Sun Pit. Despite coming from a family that traditionally supported Labour, Janice is committed to bringing positive change through Reform UK.

Revitalizing a Community Once Thriving

Growing up in Wallsend and Byker, Janice remembers a time when these areas were bustling with a diverse range of businesses. Fresh fish shops, Tom Owens’ fruit and veg in Wallsend, and a bike repair shop in Byker were among the many local enterprises that thrived. Iconic department stores like Parishes in Byker and the co-op in Wallsend were community staples. However, in recent years, Janice has witnessed the decline of these vibrant high streets, now dominated by barber shops, charity shops, vape stores, nail bars, and an overabundance of takeaways. The once-thriving markets for fresh fish and produce have vanished. Janice believes that the current MPs, Nick Brown and Mary Glindon, have allowed these communities to deteriorate, leaving residents disillusioned and frustrated.

Committed to Being the Voice of the Community

Janice Richardson is determined to address the concerns of local residents and will be holding regular surgeries in every part of Newcastle East and Wallsend from the end of April. She will be posting details in local shops to ensure that everyone knows when and where to find her. Janice is passionate about tackling the issues facing her community and wants to bring back the thriving atmosphere that Wallsend and Byker once enjoyed.

Challenging Council Accountability and Financial Management

Janice is tired of seeing local councils mismanage resources and neglect essential services. She questions the allocation of council funds, especially when the councils can afford to renew their fleet of vehicles with electric ones but claim they lack the budget to support disabled children, provide adequate social care for the elderly, or repair the numerous potholes plaguing the roads. Janice has been meeting with directors of Newcastle City and North Tyneside Councils, demanding transparency and accountability. She is determined not to be brushed aside and will continue to fight for the needs of her community.

A Promising Voice for Change

Janice Richardson pledges to be the voice of Newcastle East and Wallsend—a voice that has been missing for too long. She is committed to addressing the issues that matter most to residents and will work tirelessly to revitalize the community and restore the pride that once defined these neighborhoods.
