Having spent his entire life in Kirkby, Alex Hitchmough has witnessed firsthand the shortcomings of successive Labour and Tory governments. Both have, in his view, failed to serve the best interests of Knowsley and Great Britain as a whole. Recognizing the urgent need for change, Alex has embraced the role of Reform UK's parliamentary candidate for Knowsley, determined to champion the issues that matter most to the local community.
A Vision for a Brighter Future
Alex Hitchmough is committed to improving the prospects for future generations with a focus on six key areas:
1. Fair and Controlled Immigration
Alex proposes to introduce fair and compassionate immigration policies that welcome skilled individuals who can contribute to society, while providing refuge for those genuinely seeking asylum. Regaining control over borders and tackling illegal migration, including holding accountable those who facilitate it, is central to his plan.
2. Political Reform
In a call to break free from the traditional two-party system, Alex supports the introduction of proportional representation. This change aims to ensure that every citizen's voice is heard and that the government remains accountable to the people.
3. Addressing the Mental Health Crisis
The impact of lockdowns and COVID-19 has exacerbated a mental health crisis, especially among the youth. Alex aims to address the long waiting times for critical mental health services, which are causing additional strain on both individuals and societal systems.
4. Reducing Tax Burden
With the highest individual tax burden in seventy years, Alex advocates for cutting public sector waste, streamlining bureaucratic processes, and eliminating unproductive roles. This approach aims to restore focus on delivering high-quality front-line services.
5. Lowering Energy Prices
To achieve energy self-sufficiency, Alex emphasizes the need to fully utilize natural oil and gas reserves, support nuclear technology, and reconsider subsidies for "green" technologies. This strategy is intended to shield Great Britain from global political instability and reduce the financial strain on households.
6. Sustainable Environmental Policies
Alex has a long-standing commitment to preserving Knowsley’s green spaces and advocating for environmental issues. He supports sustainable environmental policies that balance the need for ecological preservation with economic realities. Alex opposes the detrimental effects of Net Zero policies, which he believes harm British industry and increase the cost of living.
