Jonathan Oakton Biography, Parliamentary Candidate for Halesowen
A Veteran in British Politics and Community Advocate
Jonathan Oakton, a native of Moseley, Birmingham, has established himself as a prominent figure in British politics and community service. With a background as a Sales Manager for electronic security systems manufacturers in Halesowen, Jonathan has traveled extensively across Britain, Europe, and America for multinational and British companies. His professional journey is complemented by a rich personal life, including a supportive spouse and two grown children. Outside of his professional and political pursuits, Jonathan enjoys sailing, fly-fishing, and birdwatching.
A Long History of Political Engagement
Since 1979, Jonathan has been actively involved in British elections, beginning his political journey as a candidate for the Referendum Party Ltd in 1997, representing Edgbaston. His campaign was driven by his belief in the necessity of a public vote before the UK joined the Euro. Jonathan’s involvement deepened as he recognized attempts by major political parties to undermine British sovereignty without the electorate's consent. His notable candidacy in the West Bromwich West by-election for the emerging UKIP party marked a significant moment for the party's visibility and impact. Jonathan has since participated in three European Parliament elections, various local elections, and contested the North Herefordshire parliamentary seat in 2009 and 2015, achieving second place.
Championing Reform with a Vision for Halesowen
Currently, Jonathan is campaigning with Reform UK, dedicated to enhancing the lives of Halesowen residents through a commitment to environmental sustainability and economic improvements. His vision includes protecting green spaces, reducing VAT to 18%, eliminating income tax on the first £20,000 of earnings, and ensuring accessible NHS services. Jonathan aims to create a safer, more prosperous country where taxpayers are respected and government efficiency is prioritized.
A Commitment to Transformational Change
Jonathan is passionate about restoring freedom of choice in transportation by opposing ULEZ schemes, rejecting National Service for school leavers, and supporting legal migration with visas while targeting an end to illegal migration from day one of the next government. Frustrated with the “uniparty politics” that perpetuate unchanged policies despite leadership changes, Jonathan is determined to advocate for a thorough overhaul of Westminster through Reform UK.
Support Reform UK for a Better Future
Jonathan invites voters who share his principles and vision to support him and Reform UK in creating meaningful change. Empowering Reform UK with your vote will contribute to a government that truly serves the British people and rejuvenates the political landscape.
