He completed his formal education in Glasgow before starting his career in the building trade, becoming time-served in the industry. McLeod went on to serve for 15 years in the Royal Marines, including four years deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. During this time, he also contributed to the training of the Ukrainian military in 2000.

As Reform UK’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Glasgow East, McLeod is deeply concerned about the current educational curriculum, believing it requires significant reform. He also advocates for economic change, particularly in reducing the tax burden on the Scottish people, and is a strong proponent of abolishing IR35 regulations for small businesses.

McLeod is passionate about supporting the NHS and has proposed cutting student loan debt for doctors and nurses who commit to working in the NHS for 10 years. He also advocates for a zero basic rate of tax for newly qualified doctors and nurses during their first three years of service, as well as extending this to other new NHS staff.
