Rizvi Rawoof Biography, Parliamentary Candidate for Gillingham and Rainham
Meet Rizvi Rawoof, an accomplished individual with a dedication to service and a wealth of experience in both community leadership and business management. Rizvi proudly served as the Immediate Past District Governor (IPDG) of Lions Clubs International for Kent, Surrey, and Sussex, demonstrating his commitment to helping the less fortunate over 35 years of voluntary service.
Educated at St. Thomas’ and Zahira College Colombo, Rizvi continued his academic journey at the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) and the Post Graduate Institute of Management (PIM). As a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), he brings a strong foundation in business management, with experience in audit and accountancy gained at Cecil Arseculeratne & Co (Chartered Accountants).
Throughout his career, Rizvi has held pivotal managerial roles in multinational companies within the shipping industry, spanning locations in Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Greece, and the United Kingdom. Currently serving as a Director of OPTIQUIP UK Ltd, he continues to leverage his expertise for success in the business world.
Beyond business, Rizvi's achievements extend into the realm of sports, where he excelled in Judo at the national level and rugby at the club level.
Driven by a passion for serving his community, Rizvi ventured into politics, contesting the local council elections in Rochester East in 2015. Now, as a Reform UK PPC, he aims to address the long-standing neglect of the Gillingham and Rainham constituency. With a focus on improving infrastructure and enhancing quality of life, Rizvi advocates for a scheduled program of development to make the constituency the best place to live.
